Bjørnis the Fire Bear

Bjørnis is the main tool for Norwegian fire departments in preventive communication with children.
The Bjørnis project has three main strategies:

1. Bjørnis helps and comforts children involved in fires and other accidents. The teddy bear is available in many Norwegian fire trucks, and is handed out by fire officers to children in traumatic events.

2. Bjørnis is the main character in national fire prevention education for children in kindergartens.

3. Bjørnis promotes both national and local fire safety campaigns, and has an important role as a positive representative for the fire departments and the children's hero.

More than 100 fire departments in Norway take part of the Bjørnis project, and the number is growing. The project started in Trøndelag Fire and Rescue Service.
